Its finally spring and perfect weather to start running outside and enjoying nature. Those who know me also know that the only past-time I have that matches holistic beauty is digging around for awesome tunes. So, naturally I want to share the ones that get my body movin’, body movin’ with you! Here is my current running playlist that get me hyped to sprint (or power walk on an incline if I’m feeling to Vata/ Pitta). Enjoy! Check out my older running playlists if you like this one. Also, leave me your suggestions if you have any – I love discovering new music.
1. Indiana – Solo Dancing (Joe Goddard remix)
One benefit of being married to a Brit is that you get early exposure to British tunes. They do really bad sugar pop music but great hip hop and electro. And how hot is this singer?
2. Son Lux – No Crimes
I went through a week of only playing Son Lux’s album Lanterns. Its on the Joyful Noise label – and joyful noise it is! For when you don’t just want to work out to dance music.
3. Niki and The Dove – The Drummer
This Swedish electr-duo are part hippie, part Stevie Nicks-inspired vocals and a large dose of drum machine. Perfect for hitting the pavement hard. Wait until the chorus hits and start doing intervals!
4. Jesse Boykins III – Plain
Dance along to this video for the happiest work out ever (hipster homage to Jane Fonda?). Also great tune for cool down, this RnB gone Brooklyn hipster is the master of the catchy chill groove. I also want his jacket.
5. Empire of The Sun – DNA
I don’t like all of their songs but this one always gets me going. So much so, I sometimes want to dance instead of jog! A great antidote for when you don’t feel motivated to exercise at all.
6. Elastic Band – Running Up That Hill
Okay, so I had to add an old school 90s track. Anyone who knows me, really knows me, knows that I’m obsessed with 90s techno. This cover of Kate Bush has nothing on the original except for the fact it will getting you running up that hill waaaay faster. Let the cheese wash over you.
