New “Vampire” Cosmetic Treatment: Rejuvenating Facial Injections That Use Your Blood

//New “Vampire” Cosmetic Treatment: Rejuvenating Facial Injections That Use Your Blood

It must be medi-spa gone wild week, because on Tuesday I posted about dental surgery to make crooked teeth, and today I’m posting about the latest cosmetic procedure….are you ready for this?.. coined the “vampire facelift”.

I don’t know about you, but this does not conjure up the vision of how I aspire to look, but once I learned more about it, it took the bite out of its freaky concept. The vampire facelift, also called selphyl treatments or the “U Lift”, is a procedure in which our own blood is used as a facial injectable for anti-aging.

Yes, instead of Restylane, Collagen Fillers, Hyaluronic Acid etc, this treatment takes our blood, processes it to make it more concentrated in platelets, then re-injects it into areas of the complexion which need more “plumping” and “volume-boosting”. See this video for the whole process.

Now, in all honesty, I don’t know how I feel about the vampire facelift. On one hand it argues that it uses our own biological components, but on the other hand, how natural can this be when its being processed and injected into unnatural places? And too bad this video doesn’t show the “after” results – instead it baits us to go to its website (only for me to find nothing there!). What a let down! Instead, here is what I dug up for photo proof of its results.

What do you guys think? Should we consider this as a new cosmeceutical that doesn’t use foreign substances? Or is this a freaky procedure that moves us closer to a Frankenstein-esque beauty culture?

It’s quite amazing! There is a clear difference. She looks much younger. Using creams, collegen, elastin, will never be able to take years off your face like this. How long does the results last for? Do you know where this procedure can be done?

I’m unsure if its available in Toronto yet – but its getting popular so I think it will be soon. I am read you need to do it every 9 months or so.
