Hey kids! Time for our third instalment of Dodging Dryness – where I offer up tips of hydrating your skin from the inside out. This time of year eczema, chapped lips and flaky skin are common beauty ailments and this series is all about fun ways to beat winter skin woes. We’ve already talked about rejuvenating tips such as bone broth and zucchini noodles and replacing salt with nutritious seaweed granules – making fighting dehydration yummy too!
This week I wanted to showcase some actual recipes – so of course this means moisturizing soups! Eating for moisture is not a new subject for me. In fact, I have been posting about skin hydrating soups for years. In my opinion, soups and stews are essential as they are the perfect dietary anti-dote to the weather. From an Eastern Medicine point of view, it is imperative for health (and therefore healthy tissues) to adjust how we eat, life and move according to our environment. This means, responding to the climate to protect and support our bodies. A hearty soup infuses our meal plans with hydration as well as tend to be easy to digest (many of us find dry, dense foods difficult to process – hello Vatas!)
