There are few things we must do before we die, and according to me, visiting China`s Zhangjiajie mountains is one of them. I`ve been to the Sahara desert and the Great Coral Reef, but none have made such an impact as Zhangjiajie…truly natural beauty that makes the heart flutter. These dramatic mountains look like something out of a movie, and both Ben and I feel richer for seeing them. Oddly enough, apparently the film Avatar`s setting was based on this national park landscape and enterprising local tourist marketers have since changed some of the peaks` original names to “Avatar Mountain”. Our guide said that with the change there has been a handful of western tourists while prior to this they were scarce.
But this national park is not only shockingly beautiful, it also has wonderful mountain air. Its been great for my prana and I can feel my complexion being oxygenated and each one of my cells cleansed! Take a look at this sign posted at the top of one of the mountains.
Neighbor to Zhangjiajie, is the magnificent Tianmen Mountain. This mountain was so high that when you ride up to the top you pass through a cloud sea of fog before reaching the peak which is clear as day. Ben and I got our heart rates up by climbing this stairway to heaven…999 stairs in total.
The real hallelujah mountain.
So if you want to experience beauty that is both uplifting and meditative, I suggest…no I urge you all to make the trek to Zhangjiajie. Fill your lungs with negative ions and feel rejuvenated as the stressors of everyday life melt away…
